Worst Cable TV Horror Story will win a 42 ...

December 20, 2007; St. Louis, MO - Customers' horror stories regarding their cable TV providers may be a source of frustration for many, but now they also might just be the ticket to win a new HDTV. Richard Schneider, President of HD Antenna Manufacturer Antennas Direct, wants to hear those stories, and will award the best of the worst a new 42" Plasma television set equipped with a Terrestrial Digital HD Antenna. In addition, $1000 will be offered to pay for psychological counseling suffered by the winner.

Cable Horror Stories should be submitted to cablehorror@antennasdirect.com by January 31, 2008. Submissions may also be made on antennasdirect.com. Antennas Direct will post all stories on website, and announce lucky winners on February 10, 2008. Rules and eligibility information will be available at antennasdirect.com.

Unhappy cable customers drive antenna sales.
3rd Quarter earnings reports, now coming in from the cable companies, are showing steep drops in subscribers. Recently, Charter Communications announced that they lost 40,200 analog video customers in Q3 of 2007. Comcast reported that basic cable subscribers declined by 65,000. Time Warner lost 83,000 with others reporting similar declines, representative of the broader nationwide trend to abandon cable. Antennas Direct 3rd Q sales, on the other hand, have increased more than 220% over last year. Unhappy cable customers representing a significant part of the growth.

Off-air antennas provide the best picture quality because they can receive the full HD signal rather than the compressed signal provided by cable and satellite. In addition, according to Schneider, "you can purchase an HD antenna for a one-time fee that's probably the same as, or less than, just one month's cable bill." Of course, antennas don't offer the same cable experience of, service interruptions, billing errors and offshore customer support.

Schneider's company, Terrestrial Digital, is also a major participant in the 2009 digital conversion when all analog signals will discontinue and be replaced with digital signals. Antennas Direct recently donated 1000 of their DB2 model HDTV antennas to the National Association of Broadcasters Digital TV Road Show, scheduled to hit the road this month. The goal of the Road Show is to prepare the public for the digital conversion, educating them on such matters as using an HD Antenna to receive digital programming.

Antennas Direct and Terrestrial Digital are St. Louis based manufacturers and distributors of over-the-air HDTV antennas. The company was founded by Richard Schneider in 2003, and has since been widely recognized for superior product performance by a number of industry publications and main stream media outlets.
