WASHINGTON, D.C. SENIORS ENJOY
FREE BROADCAST TV FOR CHRISTMAS

The gift of free digital broadcast TV antennas will collectively save these seniors $120,000 annually by eliminating their monthly pay-TV bills

Washington, D.C. – For years, the rising cost of cable television has been too great a financial burden for the fixed-income residents of the Allen House senior apartments in Washington, D.C. However, thanks to the persistence of Equity Management and the holiday giving spirit of TVfreedom.org coalition member, Antennas Direct, 100 of the residents received a free digital television antenna today and now have the ability to watch their favorite broadcast TV shows in high-definition without the monthly burden of paying for pay-TV service.

Antennas Direct made the holiday donation of 100 flat panel Micron indoor digital television antennas to the residents at today's Christmas party. The gift of free digital broadcast TV antennas will collectively save these seniors $120,000 annually by eliminating their monthly pay-TV bills.

The residents' difficult situation was first brought to Antennas Direct at an antenna giveaway they hosted with TVFreedom.org and LG Electronics USA on November 23 at Washington, D.C.'s Eastern Market, where 1,000 antennas were given away for free to residents in just over one hour. Angela Barnes, a part-time administrator with Allen House and exhibitor at the Eastern Market, made a compelling case to Richard Schneider, president of Antennas Direct.

"Everyone deserves free broadcast television. It is the best form of reliable entertainment – especially for seniors around the holidays," said Schneider. "Ms. Barnes made a compelling case for the residents of Allen House and we were happy to make the donation. It's a great feeling to be in a position to help eliminate the ongoing financial burden of cable for so many households this Christmas."

"Today is about holiday spirit and the joy that these residents will experience from the power and reach of free and local broadcast television in their own homes, we are proud to have Antennas Direct as a member of TVfreedom.org," said Robert C. Kenny, Director of Public Affairs for TVfreedom.org. "It is wonderful to see these residents save money by switching to a broadcast television option that is free of charge and offers the best picture quality with a multiplicity of program options."
