Antennas Direct Named One of the Fastest-Growing Companies in Region

June 12, 2009: ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Antennas Direct has been named once again one of the fastest-growing privately held companies in the St. Louis area by the St. Louis Business Journal. The 2009 list ranked private companies based on revenue growth between 2006 and 2008. Antennas Direct was listed at No. 11 with revenue of more than $3.4 million in 2008 - nearly 162% revenue growth since 2006.

Antennas Direct President Richard Schneider credits the massive growth of his company to the sleek design and high performance of its antennas tuned specifically for DTV. The original loop design is 40% smaller than other DTV antennas and its consistent gain allows more than 98% of the broadcasting signal to reach the television.

"Our revenue is 262% higher from 2006. Because we focus strictly on DTV frequencies, we have been able to make our antennas stronger, more reliable and much smaller than legacy antennas," Schneider said. "We believe public interest in over-the-air will increase in the coming months because the picture quality with an antenna is better than cable, the networks are offering more channels today than ever before and because it's free."

Since the start of 2009, the company's growth has accelerated dramatically. Antennas Direct posted sales of $4.5 million in the first six months of the year, surpassing sales for the entire year of 2008.

"People are beginning to realize the difficulty in receiving digital frequencies with old legacy antennas, but most people don't understand why. Extending the digital deadline to June 12 has actually given consumers more time to get the information and equipment they need, which, in a lot of cases, includes a new antenna," Schneider states.

Antennas Direct recently launched its first indoor antenna model, the ClearStream Convertible. It will replace analog rabbit ears and other set-top antennas. "Rabbit ear antennas were designed to receive analog frequencies, which are a lot easier to capture than digital frequencies because of the size of the wave," Schneider said. "Due to the Convertible's high and consistent gain of digital broadcasts, we expect the it to be an extremely popular alternative to rabbit ears."
