Antennas Direct Now Available at Best Buy

Nov. 6, 2008: ST. LOUIS -- As the deadline to the nationwide DTV switch movers closer, Best Buy moves to make the transition smoother. Starting Nov. 1, Best Buy will offer Antennas Direct's Clearstream 2 antennas in stores nationwide. The ClearStream 2's unique compact frame and superior DTV reception capability have contributed to its growing demand in the retail industry. Now that the antennas are available in Best Buy stores, consumers will quickly notice the improvement in reception with antennas that are designed specifically for digital frequencies.

"Never before has such a powerful antenna been compact enough to be retail friendly," said Richard Schneider, president and founder of Antennas Direct. "By offering our ClearStream antennas in Best Buy, we will broaden our availability outside of the home theater community and into the realm of mainstream viewers where reliable antennas are most needed."

The ClearStream series of antennas are Antennas Direct's latest innovation in antenna design and technology for the digital age of television. The ClearStream antennas are tuned specifically for the post 2009 DTV frequencies resulting in reliability that far surpasses that of legacy TV antennas. The ClearStreams also have a small, sleek design which enhances its market appeal.

"We have invested three years and significant capital in the development of the ClearStream geometries," Richard said. "Demand for our ClearStream line of antenna has been overwhelming, a validation of its high gain, reliability and consistent performance."

In recent months, industry experts and elected officials have stated that the government underestimated the widespread public need to have advanced antennas for the reception of over-the-air DTV. After the Wilmington, N.C., DTV test revealed a number of reception problems with older antennas, Vermont Sen. Bernard Sanders urged the FCC to inform the public about the importance of obtaining a "sufficiently sensitive" antenna for DTV.

Federal Communications Commission Commissioner Michael Copps said during a town meeting in Burlington City, VT, in October that the sensitive nature of digital frequencies will require over-the-air consumers to experiment with different antennas to see which option works the best. "I advise people to 'apply, buy and try,'" he said.
