Today, it\u2019s so easy, it\u2019s finished before you even know\nthe process started. Maybe you got a smart TV for Christmas or maybe someone\nwise gave you an antenna. Just to show you how simple setting up a TV antenna really\nis, we chronicled our installation of a new Smart TV from Samsung. Follow along\nand see for yourself!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We purchased the new Samsung &#8211; 50&#8243; Class &#8211; LED &#8211; NU6900\nSeries &#8211; 2160p &#8211; Smart &#8211; 4K UHD TV with HDR, on sale from Best Buy. We knew we wanted to\nhook it up to our antenna to watch free, over-the-air broadcast TV. We also\nplanned to connect it to all of our streaming services. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We did all of the typical things:\npulled the TV out of the box and connected it to power, then grabbed a TV\nantenna: the <a href=\"https:\/\/store.antennasdirect.com\/indoor-tv-antennas.html\">ClearStream ECLIPSE\u00ae\nIndoor HDTV Antenna<\/a> (rated #1 best indoor TV antenna in 2018) and\nplugged it into the back of the TV. This took literally 30 seconds. Then, we\nturned on the TV and the Smart TV interface appeared. The first question we\nwere asked was whether we were using an antenna or cable. We\u2019re cord cutters,\nso you know what we chose: \u2018Antenna\u2019. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Instantly, it said we had 45 channels. We didn\u2019t even have to do a channel scan! It happened automatically, and we were ready to watch. Samsung calls it \u201cLive TV\u201d, which is an option in the Smart TV menu that appears just like all of the streaming app options (Hulu, Netflix, Amazon, YouTube, etc.). Best of all, \u201cLive TV\u201d was toward the top of the menu, so we think Samsung knows a thing or two about what their customers want, and that\u2019s high-definition, over-the-air TV for FREE. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We chose the ClearStream ECLIPSE\u00ae because it is our most popular\nindoor antenna and Wirecutter, among other top-tier technology sources,\nhas consistently rated it as the <a href=\"https:\/\/thewirecutter.com\/reviews\/best-indoor-hdtv-antenna\/\">best indoor\nantenna<\/a> on the market. At $39, it\u2019s a few dollars more than the inexpensive\nknock-off flat antennas, but it\u2019s worth it for its true reliability,\nlong-lasting materials, and excellent picture quality. Just as important, it saves\nyou the headache of constantly apologizing for your favorite show breaking up\nor missing a big play in the game you and your friends have waited for all week.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, for less than $400, we had a 50\u201d Samsung 4k TV with a\nClearStream ECLIPSE\u00ae antenna set up in less than a minute. We get pretty\nexcited when major TV manufacturers realize that antenna TV is mainstream, and that\ncable is losing momentum each and every day. But we\u2019re even more thrilled to\nsee how easy Samsung has made the process of setting up a TV antenna. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now, for the hard part: setting up four streaming accounts\nwith all of the passwords we can\u2019t remember and maneuvering the on-screen\nkeyboard with those little arrows on the TV remote. We were committed, though, because\nwe love streaming and think it complements a TV antenna as a complete solution\nto become a cord cutter. In all reality, that process only took a few minutes, but\nit was an <em>eternity<\/em> compared to the\nantenna setup!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The bottom line is that in 2019, the easiest part of setting\nup your Smart TV is the antenna. It takes seconds, they\u2019ve made channel scan an\nintegral part of setup, and the option to watch \u201cLive TV\u201d is front and center.
