For best performance, we typically recommend the placement of your TV antenna at the highest point possible and with a clear line of site to the transmitting towers. Of course, many people still choose to install their TV antenna in the attic for aesthetic reasons or to comply with neighborhood guidelines. Keep in mind that one can typically lose up to 40-50% of the signal's strength from an attic installation due to the loss from roofing materials.
Since signals will be weakened by just about any roofing material, utilizing a higher gain antenna is typically the first step in overcoming signal loss. The effective range of most antennas is lowered by 10-15 miles with an attic installation, so you may consider getting a more powerful antenna than you would typically need with an outdoor antenna. It is important to note that you have the legal right to erect an antenna on property you either own or control. Your rights regarding antenna installations on your property are explained in more detail on the FCC's web site.
With proper installation and the right antenna you can overcome some of this loss and be successful. Please visit our section on installing a TV antenna in your attic for more information.

DB2e
Most engineers said it couldn’t or wouldn’t be done, but Antennas Direct® has proven them wrong with the reinvention of the company’s bowtie antennas, the Enhanced DB line. Even though this type of antenna technology has not seen an significant advancement in 30 years, Antennas Direct® has once again taken a legacy antenna design and transformed it into a new, disruptive technology for today’s changing TV audience. The new DB2e antenna offer twice the power and half the size - making it ideal for indoor, outdoor or attic mounting. |

DB4e
Welcome the new DB4e. This all-new design antenna features improved performance and range capabilities. With its added gain of 14.5 dBi, the DB4e is the strongest multi-directional antenna in the world. The redesigned mesh reflectors now give a front to back ratio of greater than 18 dB. The unique bowtie design that is exclusive to our DBe series of antennas provides solid UHF performance. By using new geometrics instead of rods, the DB4e has a massive increase in bandwidth allowing it to cover the entire UHF band. This antenna is above and beyond what other traditional multidirectional antennas can promise. |
