Will the Cable Company Allow You to Watch the Super Bowl?

We’ve seen plenty of articles lately talking about how to watch the Super Bowl as a cord cutter. It’s interesting that TV antennas are now considered the alternative way to watch TV, when really; antennas are the ORIGINAL way to watch TV.

This year, the Super Bowl is celebrating 50 years of being on broadcast television. It has ALWAYS been free with an antenna, and it is the number one reason why people purchase an antenna. Our sales grow exponentially around the Super Bowl as people prepare for the big game. Can you blame them? We’ve heard countless horror stories of people hosting Super Bowl parties only to realize that their cable company is experiencing an outage or blackout. Can you imagine? Take a look at the unfortunate Cox Communications customers.  Nexstar has decided to remove their channels from the Cox lineup:

  • Las Vegas (CBS – Super Bowl Blackout, MeTV, Movies!)
  • Phoenix (CW)
  • Baton Rouge/Acadiana, LA (Fox, CW, NBC, Ind)
  • Pittsburg, KS/Joplin, MO (NBC, ABC, My Network)
  • Roanoke, VA (Fox, CW)
  • Ft. Smith/ Springdale, AR (NBC, Fox)
  • Florida’s Gulf Coast (ABC).

Here’s a little history lesson. There have been more advancements in antenna and broadcast television technology than there have been changes in football in the last 50 years. For example, our ClearStream Eclipse antenna is so powerful and a fraction of the size over the antennas used at the first Super Bowl. Yet, football is virtually the same.  Besides some new uniforms and team names.

There’s a whole new generation, specifically Milennials that  have discovered or rediscovering antennas. With the digital transition, they get the best picture quality, reliability AND no monthly fees.

Super Bowl 50 kicks off Sunday, February 7 at 6:30pm ET on CBS. We’ll be enjoying the game for free with our antennas, will you be joining us?
